The traditional two-dimensional display technology cannot reflect the real world due to the depth information missing,therefore,the research of three-dimensional display technology has become hot in the display field.However,one of the key points of three-dimensional display is the fast response and high spatial resolution materials and devices.In this article,we first studied the polymer stabilized blue phase liquid crystal cured with a visible laser and based on that,a fast response and high spatial resolution electrically tunable grating was fabricated using holography.Combine with the holography,the devices can easily achieve a high spatial resolution,which is hard to traditional electrical method.However,the coherent of ultraviolet light is bad result in the holography cannot be used.Instead of using the ultraviolet light,we use the visible laser to cure the polymer stabilized blue phase liquid crystal,and compare its electro-optical properties with the those of a conventional one cured by ultraviolet light.Furthermore,we fabricate a holographic polymer stabilized blue phase liquid crystal grating.As blue phase is stabilized by the interfered light,polymer-concentration gradient is achieved simultaneously.With the application of a uniform vertical electric field,periodic index distribution is obtained due to polymer-concentration gradient.The grating exhibits several attractive features such as polarization-independency,a broad temperature range,sub-millisecond response,simple fabrication,and low cost,thus holding great potential for three-dimensional display and photonics applications.
