Along with the rapid development of Ethernet, data service has become the main service of telecommunication, and the traditional SDH technology hasn't been able to meet the needs of transmission. MSTP has drawn a lot of attention because it introduces the carrying capacity for many kinds of data services into SDH. On one side, MSTP can make use of the technology and network foundation of SDH, and on the other side, it can satisfy the requirements of data service.Firstly, this thesis summarizes the difficultis for SDH network in carrying data service, and analyzes the ways MSTP solving these prombles. Then a design proposal for 2xGE board which is a kind of MSTP equipment aimed at GE signals is proposed. Then, the thesis studies the functional modules and hardware componets of 2xGE board, and analyzes the function structure of EtherPHAST-48. A method of realizing the data processing function in using Shell commands and Shell Scripts is proposed. Following, the thesis discusses the way of improving in consideration of processing efficiency and secrecy. The tests validate the user commands and hardware functions.The last part summarizes the whole thesis, and points out some study directions.
