With the development of digital TV, the transport stream monitoring service is becoming an urgent need. In order to locate the source of error, we need a suitable monitoring equipment. The traditional transport stream detector is based on the PC platform. The price is expensive and the operation is inconvenient. To solve this promblem, a design scheme based on SOPC is proposed in this dessertation. The transport stream detector is implemented by the cooperation of software and hardware. Compared with the traditional analyser, it has a better mobility and the price is lower.This dissertation discusses realization and theory of MPEG-2 transport stream analysis and monitoring. The main contents are as follow:1. Introduces the standard of MPEG-2 system layer syntax and ETR 290 standard about the three levels of detecting parameters2. Describes the hardware architecture platform, specially hardware design, about sync module and program special information(PSI) extracting module.3. Gives solutions to the difficulties of dropping packets , mixing packets and data repetitious processing. Discusses the key question of design—the communication between hardware and software.4. Debugs and tests the design with actual MPEG-2 transport steams. Gives the results of the debugging and analysed experimental data.The author of this dissertation has realized a Transport Stream Detector in Altera's Nios Development Board EP2C35 and this Transport Stream Detector has a good performance. The basic analysis and monitoring has already been realized. All the functions are confirmed by testing the design with actual MPEG-2 transport stream.
