Customizable Xml-based User Interface Design And Its Application In Embedded Systems

User interface is very important to software,but it is always changed. Most of GUI system take the interface-code-making as the main aim. According to the define from the designer,the codes of the user-interface style are made,which are managed during the compiling by the developer.As the user-interface information has the same level with the source code, its any change only could be reflected into the executable file after being compiled and linked only.Therefore,the extensiblity of user-interface has been limited greatly. Though the Rapid Application Development (RAD) afforded the virtual interface making,the interface is still solidified in the program to run.It has no good to the expansibility of the user-interface.With the change of the customer's requirement, the customizability of GUI is paid more and more attention to as many of embedded system interface might be modified during the course of the devising and after coming across the user indeed.In this article, an approach to customize and modify UI dynamically with eXtensible Markup Language(XML),in which the information of the modification stored in the XML document will be used to display the new UI,is presented. This approach provides a function to modify UI for the final user with a customizing modular inserted between the application system and interface display layer, by which the data of UI design is separated from application logical modular. When the system is started every time, it could display the interface according to the information from the customizing modular without being compiled and linked again.On the background of the automobile electronic system,the approach of customizability of GUI has been achieved in the embedded Linux system based on MiniGUI in this article.After introducing the define and particular describe, presenting concretely the method of interface configure,customization and control, the application of the customizing modular in other usual embedded GUI system and the implement of customizing by internet are discussed at last in this thesis.
