Radio communications is an important branch of modern digital communications. It plays a lot in multi-field, rapidly develops from low-speed to high-speed, narrow-band to broad-band. Error control technology acts an important and key role in it. So, it is important to deeply study error control technology with the application.Firstly, this paper analyses the basic theory of communications and error control technology. Then it focus on deeply study on Turbo code and Turbo product code. The paper introduces the Turbo product code's theory, algorithm and improved ways.The paper briefly introduces the characteristics in HF communications, gives design and emulation in the 9600bps HF high-speed modem project and code correction. It proves the superiority of Turbo product code. The whole performance of the system exceeds MIL-STD-188-110B's demand.After proposed, Turbo code is being studied in great demand in the communication field. In fact, it is not only a new way in the error control decoding but also an important thought come from practice. At present, Turbo thought has applied in the complex digital signal processing, such as adaptive equilibrium, etc, and gained excellent performance. Along with the deep studying, the "Turbo thought" is by all means applied in more widely fields.
