With the rapid development of modern society, requirements for information data have been increasingly upgraded both in our daily life and work fields, namely that information technology is required to meet new standard. An effective method to deal with this problem is Data Compress Encode. Since the birth day of MPEG encode standard, it has been rapidly advanced and will be of great influence upon the whole AV market with the popularity of multi-media entertainment system, home cinema system, and so on similar digital products. Remarkable success has been made on VCD and DVD player system based on MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. MPEG-4, as the advanced generation, has been upgraded with high compress rate, high definition and other new characteristics, and therefore becomes the technical standard for the latest AV consuming electric products.This dissertation is concentrated on the design of ESS decode project, which make use of MPEG decode IC ESS6425 as the core supported by other IC CS4340(audio IC), GL811(USB 2.0 to ATA/ATAPI bridge Controller), etc. On the basis of the decode project, a multi-media mp4 HD player is designed with special features of convenient installment, competitive price and perfect performance. The dissertation starts with the interpretation of MPEG-4 AV decode technology, then follows the detail information about software and hardware design of MPEG-4 player system. Hardware part is based on ES 6425 IC, while software part focus on the introduction of remote-control receives and its implementation.
