When cotton was cut down and transmitted, it always contains a lot of hair, animal's fur and polypropylene fiber, which brings difficulties to the subsequent processing. There are some devices used abroad, but they are so expensive that they are not suitable for our actual conditions. Some domestic factories are also doing some research in this field, the price of the machines are lower than foreign countries'. In this paper, we propose a system which can picking up the impurities in the cotton. It contains an embedded operation system and a digital signal processor, through which it can realize the software algorithm of image processing.DSP (Digital Signal Processor) is a hardware system which used for dealing with digital information. It is suitable for the high-speed computation system and has extremely strong anti-interference ability. Its advantage mainly embodies in the high-speed computation and controlling abilities.ARM (Advanced RISC Machines) is widely used in the projects as an embedded processor, it is useful for real-time system. ARM is a low consumption, low cost and high performance hardware. Most datas are operated and finished in the register of ARM, it is flexible and simple to seek the location, DSP can deal with digital information well, it takes less time than formal algorithm or processor in dealing with lots of information.We use the software algorithm to emulate the project. In this essay, we test our algorithm in Visual C++6.0 environment. we can realize the whole online software of control system, and debug through the artificial device, form the systematic algorithm finally.
