The new method and instrument with the technology of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) for the water trace contamination is a cross-research on multi-disciplines. It comprises of the study of the SPR sensing, optical system designing, metallic-membrane plating, data detecting and data processing. This paper presents the method and the design of a SPR sensor device based on angle modulation without moving moments, and gives some experiments by using the SPR device.The specific content:In chapter 1, the actuality oif water quality monitor and development of instrument using in trace contamination measuring are discussed, the project's demand and aim is also put forward.In chapter 2 and chapter 3, the analysis of the fundamentals about the SPR sensor is accomplished. Four different modulations and three different excitations are discussed, and so is the present status and development of SPR sensor. The phase modulation method and the bi-beam method are also introduced in this dissertation. The fundamentals analysis, the simulation and the physical design for the both methods are also described.In chapter 4, the fabrication procedure of the portable SPR sensor device is introduced in the case of fundamentals analyzing and simulation. The design idea of every parts of the instrument is also expressed. The device which simplifies the structure of the classical angle modulation, realizes the aim of portability, can apply in the water trace contamination.In chapter 5, there are several groups of measurement results of ethanol and dextrose solutions, which measured by the device we designed. And the comparison and analysis of the data are also done. The result presents that the sensitivity on index comes to 10-5, and the standard deviation of repeatability is 0.3452.In chapter 6, the sum-up about this paper and some improved suggests for the future research are given.
