The simulation of infrared scene by computer's modeling capability is one of the important researches in the field of infrared (IR) simulation technique. Being involved with so many modern high-tech approaches, the technique of scene simulation has greatly widened the visual field of human beings and promoted our ability. It plays an important role in scientific research. The dynamic IR scene generation technique can reduce the cost of developing a new weapon system. It is not only the key to increase the ratio of value to cost, but also a quick, economy and effective means in appreciating the performance of IR imaging guidance missiles. All of these lead to its great theoretical significance and wide application perspective.This thesis is focus on how to use computer to generate dynamic IR images. A simulation of an IR imaging guidance missile tracking an airplane is represented. A method of the IR scene simulation based on Multigen Creator and Vega is described, which includes the creating of three-dimensional (3D) model and IR modeling. The basic process of IR scene simulation is also provided in this thesis. As the important IR modules of Vega, Sensor Vision and SensorWorks is introduced through this thesis. At last, the result of simulation is shown and converted to AVI files.This thesis has introduced 3D graphic application program interface OpenGL, and the software development environment of IR scene simulation. The 3D geometry LOD model is built according to its actual size. The motion model is also built according to the motion rules of the plane and the missile. The factors which affect the infrared radiation are analyzed. The infrared radiation model of the plume, exhaust pipe, fuselage and reflection is presented.In this thesis, the attenuation characteristic of infrared radiation through atmosphere is analyzed and the atmospheric permeance of infrared radiation is given. Also, the design ideas and implementation method to generate dynamic IR scene with computer are addressed.At last, the methods of video image processing are discussed, including image zooming and image interpolation. The research in the thesis plays an important roleon IR imaging guidance simulation work. The IR scene images are true to nature, and the rate of producing IR images is greatly increased. It can better meet the needs of IR imaging guidance with high speed and real-time. The research methods and key technology in this thesis, are valuable for the future research on dynamic infrared scene simulation.
