Embedded Digital Video Recorder File System And Applications

In recent years, the digital hard disk recorder has been applied widely in the professional storage realms, such as video surveillance and network storage. However, the traditional PC-based equipments fail to meet the gradually increased demands because of its inherent drawbacks. So the embedded systems have become a new research focus which can provide notable advantages over its traditional counterparts. Unfortunately, the embedded systems generally have no file system, or just have some reduced ones with simple functions. Furthermore, their device driver is not suitable for high-load data transfers, and provides poor data security when large capacity disks are used as the storage media. All these problems must be solved before these equipments can be put into practice.This paper introduces an integrative solution to the upper problems in which Vx Works is the embedded OS of the equipments. This solution derives from comprehensive and deep research about the embedded file system and related issues. The driver of the IDE controller, storage mechanism and software RAID are discussed in detail.Through strict test, it is convinced that this solution satisfies the actual requirements nicely. The abundance of the interfaces of functions, the efficiency of data transmission and the performance of data security are all achieved as our expectation.
