PMP is a new consumer eletronics entertainment product. In this thesis we introduce a solution based on a TI OMAP family dual-core processor DM270, and the details of it's software design are discussed.Chapter 1 investigates the current market status of PMP, and introduces serveral PMP solutions as well as their difference. Chaper 2 gives a brief view of TI's OMAP family and their roadmaps, then provides information about the multimedia-processor TMS320DM270 that we use in this thesis. Chapter 3 reviews knowledges of combinations of audio/video CODECs. Chapter 4 discusses the requirements of our solution and gives a brief hardware design based on these requirements.Chapter 5 designs the software details. First we select a application framework on which the whole project is built. Second we divide the entire project into modules, and modules into layers. Then we introduces serveral special techniques used in implementation.Chpater 6 is about how we actually managed to workout our design. It's about software developing management. By using those 3 great tools together and carrying out developing criterions throughout the process, we finally made it to the market.
