Software Design Of Multi-format Hard Disk Recorder And Player

With the development of embedded multimedia applications, the functions of multimedia player have become increasingly important for people especially the support of multi-format. Since television screen is larger than computer screen, and the viewing experience will be better when using large-screen television. To meet the needs of the public and record programs which you are interested in, the program can be stored into removable storage, and there is not the limit of time and space when watching TV. At the same time, the development of storage technology makes the capacity of hard disk increased, and hard disk is cheaper. The hard disk can store more movies, and TV programs can be recorded longer. So the multi-format hard disk recorder and player can meet people's needs, and it will be a potential product.Davinci TMS320DM6446 is used by platform as a multimedia processor core. The dual-core structure composed ARM and DSP not only makes the product easy to design, but meets the demand of processing and controlling. After analyzing RMVB, WMV, MOV and other multimedia formats, and studying the theory of recording and playing, software architecture of multimedia is designed based on TI signal processing modules. Linux is ported to the DM6446 platform, and then device driver is programmed such as audio device driver, video device driver, SD card driver and IDE hard disk driver. On the basis of drivers, application is programmed which record television and play multi-format movies. Finally, after integrating and debugging these modules, multi-format hard disk recorder and player works steadily through function testing and performance testing.This thesis implements software of multi-format hard disk recorder and player. According to the software architecture and the codec engine provided by TI, software of the driver layer and application layer are designed, and multi- format can be supported. The product can play movies and record TV programs, and it works well through hard disk of large capacity.
