The core idea of Virtual Instrument (shortened from VI) technology was making use of the powerful computer resources to convert hardware technique to software technique in order to furthest reduce the cost of system and improve system functions and system flexibility. The VI technology is spurring the testing technique growth on with nonreversible force. Therefore the advanced open system architecture and VI technology are introduced into the design of the testing systems, It has theory and practice value that study the open integrated testing system with open architecture modularized instruments and plug and play characteristics.The paper analyses the latesd studying of open architecture and Virtual Instruments in testing system in the world firstly, for problems that the update of testing systems and the expansion of functions were much limited by centralized architecture, the paper studies open system architecture and VI technology deeply, accomplishes the design of the open integrated testing system based on VXIbus Instruments.Firstly, this paper describes the concepts of open the integrated testing system and researches the ideas related to the open integrated testing system based on Virtual Instruments in detail, then analyses the demands of the system, at last, designs the project of the open integrated testing system based on Virtual Instruments.The article chooses the VXIbus according to the practical requires of the testing system in order to found open test platform based on VXIbus, and designs the test system software by the advanced development environment LabWindows/CVI, introduses the developments of different modules classified by functions.The key techniques using in the realization of the open integrated testing system based on Virtual Instruments are researched deeply. The paper studies the integrated technique of the software and hardware of the open integrated testing system based on Virtual Instruments, and studies the ways of designing functions on the base of analysises about the IVI technique, studies the multithread and high precision counter.On the base of analysis and design of open integrated testing system based on Virtual Instruments, combining with key techniques, finishes the development, significance testing and critical review of open integrated testing system based on VXIbus, the results indicate that the system structure is logical, the techniques arehighly active and practical, the system exploit the advantage of VXIbus and has the functions as dada acquisition, data processing and system adjusting, and provides a testing platform with good performance, is worthness in applications and extension.
