As the demand of real-time detection and automatic of the weaponry and fault diagnosis is creasing, the networks of remote testing and fault diagnosis have a broad background. It needs a higher capacity of integrated analysis for Definitive test equipments, because the experiment parameters need more advanced technology for real-time collection and analysis. Meanwhile, the development of computer and software technology make the virtual instrument leading the direction of the testing field. This paper takes the advantage of using virtual instrument technology, research its application in the testing and fault diagnosis system.This paper researches the composition of testing subsystem based on the analysis of functional components of the remote testing and fault diagnosis system, then analyses the application of virtual instrument in the testing subsystem. This paper focuses on the design of hardware and software technology to achieve universal testing subsystem and implements a universal testing subsystem based on virtual instrument.The main works can be presented as follows:1. This paper analyses the function of the universal testing subsystem, discusses the necessity of application for the virtual instrument in the subsystem, analyses subsystem functional component based on the virtual instrument, and then discusses the structures of the testing subsystem based on PXI.2. It is important to realize the data acquisition for the universal testing subsystemsoftware design.The paper discusses the key technologies of the data acquisition and large data storage for the software design. The setup of multi-channel sampling methods, multi-channel buffer and multi-threading technologies are discussed in data acquisition, and real-time data storage technology with data storage, data recovery and memory mapping technologies are discussed in large data storage.3. The key problems of the hardware design in the universal testing system are discussed, systems integration, anti-jamming capability and the universal design is proposed to be solved and implemented. It lays the foundation for the formation of the universal testing system.4.
