Since software process and software process improvement are proved to be more and more important to a successful software development process, people are doing more and more research on software process and software process improvement. After studying the popular research methods on software process and software process improvement, we find that it is necessary and possible to find a new angle to do our research, that is system dynamics. System dynamics has been widely used in many aspects in natural science and social science. However, the application of system dynamics in software process and software process improvement has remained in preliminary phase. Indeed, we can see that system dynamics has a large use in this field. In the thesis, we use the method of system dynamics and use the new version of modeling tool called PowerSim to model the Abdel-Hamid's software process and then have a simplification on that model using it to verify a law in software engineering. Apart from that, we built up a model of Extreme Programming. Using this model, we have contrast control experiments on one of the most disputed issue that is pair programming. We proved that pair programming is better than solo programming.
