Internet Fax Communications Gateway And Design

With the rapid development of the Internet technology, constant merging of IP technology and traditional telecommunication technology has made Facsimile over IP(FoIP) an inevitable trend of fax development.The key of realizing FoIP is to design a connective equipment -Facsimile Gateway between the traditional telephone network and Internet. The paper starts with FoIP technology and the basic principle of the gateway and analyzes the functional architecture of the gateway.At last Internet Facsimile Gateway has been designed. In course of the gateway research, not only serial communication technology, Winsock communication technology but also facsimile communication in PSTN and GSM and correspondence with Internet are involved. Facsimile Gateway realizes fax data transmission through Internet and reduces the total expenses. It also meets the needs of many facsimile users which has very important practicality.This project is advanced and has wide application foreground.This paper's main contents are the designment and functional achievement of Facsimile Gateway and the designment of multi-route facsimile communication procedures.1. According to the difference of the connective network,PSTN/IP and GSM/IP are designed,achieving communications between Facsimile Gateway and G3 facsimile equipment in PSTN and GSM.2. The call establishment procedures are studied mainly and Facsimile Gateway can set up the connections with more than one user. It is the basic function and the precondition of FoIP, which is also difficulty in the project.3. Multi-route facsimile communication procedures are studied mainly and Facsimile Gateway can deal with more than one control signals or data simultaneously.It is one of the functions of Facsimile Gateway which is quite difficult and innovative.4. Through studying the network fax data format in T.38, information format transformation is accomplished between Internet and PSTN and facsimile communications between gateways are achieved.5. Network delay and package lost are analyzed chiefly.It ensures the transmission quality of FoIP which is one of the difficulty.Through the Facsimile Gateway's software designment and debugging, prospective research harvest has been acquired.
