Embedded system's advantage in reliability,cost,volume,consumption,make its application more and more extensive.The usage of the combination of embedded system and Internet technology helps the information collected by embedded facilities which will be transmitted to every corner of the world conveniently and rapidly.The high-speed data processing ability of DSP makes it widely used in such aspects as sound,radar,sonar,earthquake,image,communication system,aviation.Especially, DSP's programmable feature, it's advantage in compressing and encoding of image and the combination of DSP technology and Internet technology make the image transmission more and more easy throughout Internet. Therefore, such system may have more extensive application in the fields such as security surveillance,long-distance medical treatment etc.This dissertation proposes a kind of systematic design scheme of embedded network camera based on DSP technology.This scheme adopts the high-performance multimedia digital signal processor DM642 of TI Company to improve the technology of the traditional camera on digitization,networked,etc.It is much easier to devise the hardware and update the software than traditional camera. it is also much more easy to install and has a high cost performance. The paper has demonstrated the design of every module of the network camera,such as, image gathering, JPEG image compressing and encoding,network transmitting,embedded real-time system DSP/BIOS and program design. Finally, the paper makes a basic function test and summary about the system. The paper also proposes the imagination and route of perfecting and improving further.
