Abstract/Summary:
The rapid development of technology of networking and multimedia accelerates the step of distance education and Computer Aided Education greatly. The thesis selects the study on application of VRML in network instruction as its main topic. The fundamental characteristics of Web based Virtual Reality included "Immersion, Interaction and Imagination", which makes network instruction more effective and convenient.VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is a new technology including Virtual Reality , networking and multimedia. This thesis introduces the methods and processes of building the system of virtual material experiment platform by VRML. The using processions of Hardness meter and Metallographic optical microscopy are described. The content of this thesis is included: physical modeling, action modeling and interactivity etc. And specifies in details resolutions of some technical difficulties such as modeling , texture and interaction and so on. The system of virtual material experiment platform is a virtual 3D-scene in Web. Modeling by VRML and using multimedia technology such as image , sound , text and video, a vivid 3D platform has been built. The whole system that has high trueness shows that virtual technology is valuable in material science experiment.At the end of this thesis, both summary of our research and prospect of Web based Virtual Reality are given.
