With the development of Iternet and the coming of the post-PC era,the embedded system has been played an important part in computer technology field and exhibiting broad potential market,which will be the new research hotspot because of the increasing application.More and more universties commence learning embeded system,therefore how to select a reasonable hardware experiment platform ,to design and implement a powerful inexpensive prevalent hardware system to meet requirements of teaching and research is the focus of this thesis.ARM Ltd.,founded in 1990,makes rapid and ceaseless progress in the manufacture field of 32bit RISC CPU. ARM offers a wide range of processor IP cores which is supported and introduced by a lot of semiconductor corporations for the low power consumption and system price ,high performance together and specific THUMB instrument set.ARM7TDMI ,one of processer core of ARM,is very suitable to be applied in control field which requires low power consumption and network surpport.Among many processer base ARM7TDMI,S3C4510B combines many virtues such as low cost and power consumption,well network performance,it has been becoming an ideal processor of embeded sytem applications and teaching.Thereby,we have choosed the S3C4510B as Embedded Microprocessor Unit of embeded system teaching and research hardware platform.and finished the harware system design and implementation of PCB.According to all accounts of the requirements from teaching and developing,the system adopts a new method which is "core-extendable".makes the best of Embedded Microprocessor Unit of embeded system by extending the general I/O interface, makes use of familiar IC chips as well as powrful software supporting environment.So that it has achieved all functions and applications of S3C4510B totally and completely.Designed and developed with PROTEL DXP suit and ARM ADS 1.2 application by the means of high speed circuit,the system has been considered with the matter of system upgrade,area of board,chips cooling,hardware mount. So the system and unit circuit could be emploied as the prototype study board in the real system developing before finalizing the design.The main work of this dissertation could be summarized as follows.First of all along with the concept and development of embedded system,the architecture character and category of ARM microprocess kernel are introduced.Second, the basic structure and principle of S3C4510B are developed.Third and the most important,the whole process to design a hardware system based on S3C4510B is presented particularly,including the choosing of memory and periphery chips,the design and debugging of every unit circuit.In addition to describing the circuit diagrams of every unit in detail,emboding all our opinions and the rules on design and production of embeded system PCB .Finally ,the coures and methods of embeded system developingare discussed.The dissertation is very useful and maneuverable to embedded system freshers and developers.lt can help them rapidly grasp the main feathers and important places in hardware design and implementation in embedded system.
