Embedded systems are defined as a kind of special-purpose computer systems with the following characteristics: they are based on computer technology and take the applicability as the central issue; the used hardware and software can be talilored according to the needs; it can fulfil the strickest requirements raised by applied systems in the respect of functionality, reliability, cost, occupied volume, and power consumption. The applied embedded computers now have far exceeded all kinds general-purposed computers in numbers. The application fields of embedded systems include manufacture industries, process controls, communications, apparatus and instruments, vehicles, military equipments and consumer goods. Bluetooth is a technology developed for short-range wileless communicatins. More and more Bluetooth devices have been integrated into embedded systems. So it is meaningful to study embedded systems and Bluetooth technology combined. In this thesis, the software and hardware platform used are explained. The means to port uCliux OS to S34510B hardware platform and the methods to set up openBT Bluetooth protocol stack over uClinux OS are dicussed in detail. At last, the Bluetooth LAP profile is implemented over the Bluetooth protocol stack. Experiments show the system functions well. Data can be transmitted successfully between PC (as LAN access point) and a data deminal (the embedded system) through wireless connection. The wireless connection is set up by using Ericsson Bluetooth module ROK101007 and Bluetooth protocol stack.
