Usability Evaluation Of Digital Museum

Digital museum exists via computer and network technologies. It makes the function of traditional museum exhibit in digital form. Digital museum is characterized by digital storage, networked acquisition , shared resource, various display and computer management.More user attracted by the abundance and variety of digital museum, but there is no usability guidelines in based-web digital museum construction, most digital museum have usability problems. Usability research is a very important branch in human-computer field. Of course, development of digital museum affected by all kinds of reasons, but it is of importance to study the usability of digital museum for the following reasons. Good usability can make users more efficient, provide users more easily accessed information, improve satisfaction of users, give users more better experience, attract users visit digital museum. All above can make the digital museum more well-known and influent, thus it can promote the development of digital museum.Based on the purpose, the research is chiefly going to put forward the following new thinking and accomplish such works including:1. evaluate usability of digital museumTo evaluate the usability of digital museum is the prime new work of this study. The main study object is Shandong University Digital Museum, while I also evaluated another domestic digital museum. In this study we have gave some usability advice as to how to improve the usability of Shandong University Digital Museum.2. improve the usability evaluation methodsWe use four usability evaluation methods to evaluate the usability of Shandong University Digital Museum. To get an objective results and take an all-round view of results, we analysed merits and defects of each method and improve those methods respectively, while we synthesized various merits and analysed all results in detailed.3. explain how to improve the usability of SDU digital museumWe should include all sides of things related to usability for improving theusability of Shandong University Digital Museum. From the HCI point of view, we put forward concrete suggests on specific problems.
