Agent-based Grid Resource Monitoring System

The grid technique is coming to be the next generation of network technique. In the grid, the whole Internet, including all the resources in it, such as the resources of computing, storage, data, information, knowledge, experts, and so on, is combined together. There are incomputable and frequently changing and refreshing resources in the grid, so there comes a important problem that how to monitor these resources. Grid Monitoring is difficult and critical to a grid, and it's the basis of take good and efficient advantage of the resources in the grid.Agent technique is a fruitful method for developing distributed system, which can provide an ideal approach to solve questions in Grid Monitoring. In current, some researchers have put forward many ideas which implement Grid Monitoring by using agent technique, but none of them is ideal analyzed from the efficiency, complexity and reliability.The paper proposes a grid resource monitoring system on basis of Agent. In the paper, we have a research on such problems as querying resources information, resource registering, resource catalog management, searching and distributing resource to users by using Agent. We also have a research on the implements of the different Agents. The uses of Agent technique on grid resource monitoring improves the independence and intelligence of Grid Monitoring, and it provides a reliable approach to using various grid resources.
