Over the last few years, the Internet has evolved into an ubiquitous network and inspired the development of new variety applications in business and consumer markets.these new applications include voice over IP,viedo on demand, data survice and multimedia. However , the traditional IP network only support Best Effort transfer for all service despite their specific requirements.Compared with traditional routing mechanism,Layer 2 switch, such as ATM, can transfer data in a high speed and more efficiently.waht's more they support a complete controll of QoS.In order to to support QoS on IP network, MPLS is one of the best solutions.MPLS use a mechanism like ATM, a label to transfer packet. It can provide the QoS controll on IP network without changing the existiong routing mechanism.A packet will pass all the protocol stack when transfered across the Internet from one host to another host.it may even pass some other kind of subnetworks.there is a problem : how to guarantee a packet with a higher priority can be treated prioritly.some data link technologies already support QoS,such as ATM,while others don't,such as Ethernet LAN.So IETF defined a mechanism to map the high level QoS type to data link techonogy. as well as a framework called SBM(Subnet Bandwidth Management). It can be used in Ethernet , Token ring and FDDI to support QoS control. In this thesis , we first introduces the basic mechanism of MPLS, it's core techonologies and work flow, and make a deep reserch on the two applications of MPLS:MPLS TE and MPLS defferentiate service. On this basis,we propose a framework using MPLS to implement IP QoS: Qos-LSP.At last, we design and implement a MPLS subnetwork manager for Ethernet.and test in the labrotory enviroment.the testing result proved that it is efficient.
