With the development of modern digital technology, VLSI technology and communication technology, the Digital TV technology has become more and more mature. It will take the place of Analog TV technology at last and better service will be offered for general people. As the most important and complicated standard of Digital Video Broadcasting, DVB-T will be used generally in China. This paper introduces the structure of the receiver end of DVB-T system, and discusses the study and design of the Digital Down Converter part. Digital Down Converter is a very important part of this system, it converts the IF signal into baseband, reduces the signal rate and then makes it easy for the later real time DSP operation part. ASIC of DDC is used in traditional circuits, it has the character of high extraction rate and stable performance. But the price of ASIC is very high and it is not easy to be integrated. We can use programmable logic device instead of ASIC and then make the DDC more flexible. Under the consideration of above factors, this paper first discusses the theory of digital down converter, and then designs the DDC with CORDIC algorithm, realizes it with programmable logic device and applies it to the receiver end of DVB-T system at last.
