USB interface technology has been widely applied in WLAN(wirelesslocal area network),mobile hard disk, ATA(AT Attachment) equipmentbecause of its distinct characteristics such as high speed, convenientconnecting, compatibility and so forth. and has been applied step bystep in real-time data acquisition and image capturing.Based on the subject, this paper introduces video signal, USB bustechnology and the performance of the USB2.0 interface technology .and then shows the design of a real-time image capturing system basedon USB2.0, which includes four segments: hardware design ,firmwaredesign ,device driver and application program . In hardware segment,each circuit is introduced in detail. Firmware is the emphases anddifficulty of the USB design.The object of this paper is to realize a real-time medical imagecapturing system with up to date USB2.0 chip EZ-USB FX2 CY7C68013issued by Cypress Semiconductor Corporation. It is a part of medicalimage workstation. The main work is as follows: Study video signal,USB2.0 specification and Hardware Description Language; Study thefunctional framework of CY7C68013 chip; Accomplish the hardwaredesign scheme of system; Power management design is given; Plot PCBplate; Lastly , Study the design of EZ-USB FX2 firmware,GeneralPurpose Driver and PC applications, and write the simple test program.This paper is valuable for hardware and software design engineer.
