Abstract/Summary:
LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) is an effective solution to reduce the weight and volume of system , and improve the performance of system. Passive components of LTCC and the dual-channel front-end of millimeter wave receiver LTCC module are studied in this paper. Because of the limitation of LTCC's process, solid metal ground is substituted with meshed metal ground. A study in the effects and performance of meshed metal ground is carried on in this paper. And corresponding measures to improve the performance of LTCC modules are presented On the basis of the theory and methods of LTCC embedded inductors design, three common kinds of LTCC embedded inductors are designed, made and tested. And the results of testing are analyzed and compared with each other. According to the theory of LTCC filters, a reactance coupling multi-layered LTCC band pass filter is designed and manufactured in the paper. And the results of testing is analyzed. For the transition of waveguide to microstrip in LTCC modules with irregular shape, hard hermetical package and bad reliability, a new type of waveguide to microstrip transition in LTCC modules is described in this paper. In millimeter wave system, front-end plays a significant role. The theory and design of dual-channel front-end of millimeter wave receiver is present in this paper. It includes the layout of the module, the design of passive components (including waveguide to microstrip transition, 3dB power divider and intermediate frequency low pass filter ) and DC bias circuits. The manufacture and testing of millimeter wave dual-channel front-end of receiver are done in the paper.
