The ethics of journalism has been paid attention to both in theory and practice. This paper tries to discuss the phenomenon of ethics in journalism and the approach and tactics to resolve it by comparing with China and America. The ethics of journalism shouldn't care for only professional moral problem. As a professional activity that connected with social extensively, reporters often confronted with moral phenomenon which can not be simply confined by professional morals, so it requires to be explained at the point of journalism ethics and provides with them practical choices. This is the emphases of this paper .It includes three parts:Firstly, distinguish what is journalism ethics and what is moral rules and analyze the moral choices, values in news communication and history of journalism ethics both in China and America.Secondly, analyze typical moral phenomenon and activities in news interview compared China with America. This is the core of this paper and where it exists innovation. During the typical moral phenomenon about journalism, some is easy to distinct good and evil and what right and wrong is clear, such as news of reward and news of privacy. But, some isn't so simple. In the activities of Chinese and American reporters, they often confronted with difficult moral choices, which can't be simply valued by good and evil, such as secretive interview. And, what should journalists do when they meet withchoice of status? Should journalist have sympathy and humanism? These are disputed and should be resolved. What had American reporters done? And what choices should we take? This paper will try to provide answers to it by comparison.At last, this paper will point out several views about how to improve the levels of our journalism ethics, such as enforcing self-discipline and outside-discipline, this will attribute to develop the ethics of journalism.
