Web3D, which is based on Internet and realized by software engineering technology,is a kind of desk-oriented VR techniques. Strong interaction characterizes the Web3D onsynchronizing Interaction techniques and network techniques. And it advantagesinitiative and collaboration of learners. Compared with the Immersed Virtual Reality,Web3D spends less in obtaining some virtual experience. More and more instructionaldesigners have focused on Web3D.This thesis explores the application of Web3D in education from the perspectives oftheory and practice.(1) In the perspective of theory. Firstly, technologies and applications of Web3D aresummarized following the definition and the history of Web3D in this paper. And therelationships between Web3D and Intelligence Augmentation, two Learning Theoriesare analyzed. And the author suggests that virtual experience in electronic commenceshould be applied into instructional design of Web3D based on researching virtualexperience theory.(2) In the perspective of practice. In order to carry out the new curricular guideline ofelementary education, which emphasizes on study research,and advocates the leaningmode of independent investigates, practice-experience and intercourse -collaboration,a Java3D-based work is designed and developed as "magnetic effect of electricalcurrent"in junior high school. In this work, learners can operate a part ofexperimental models in experimental environment, and observe some phenomena indifferent angles clearly, such as magnetic fields of electrified lead and electrifiedsolenoid, the relationships between magnetic fields'direction and electrical direction.Furthermore, the author does her best to inspire the learners'interest, and provide thesuitable condition for communication and collaboration between learners. In theprocess of exploitation, suitable solutions are offered to meet the needs from theelectromagnetic work. For example, the methods of modeling differ due to thedifferences of electrified lead, electrified solenoid and their magnetic fields.In the end, the research conclusion is given and the further research is envisioned.
