The western medias are regarded to have unlimited freedom to report anything, so that a reporter could reflect the real world. This article is supposed to reveal that in this area, there is also the prejudices basing on the power, identities and special experiences between different societies and cultures. Le Monde, one of the biggest and influential newspapers in France, is analyzed in this article. This article comprises of five chapters in which the first one introduces why I want to do this research, on what theories this article bases and with which methods the research is carries out. From the second to the forth chapter, the thesis tries to analyze the reports including Chinese environmental problems to answer the following questions: What kinds of Chinese environmental problems have been selected? Which topic is the favorite? What discourses the reporters applied to represent the Chinese and their environmental troubles? By answering these questions, the thesis argues that the French media construct an image of the Chinese environmental problems and what it kept tells is different from the reality and through the whole process the media confirms the identities between the Orient and Occident.
