Digital television, especially High-Definition TV, is a developing direction in television receiver system. The TV technology in my country now is in a interim from analog system to digital system. In consumer IC field, in order to achieve the high definition many types of new high quality DTV receiver products are booming. Now PDP, LCD and DLP display have occupied the TV market. Based on the digital television diversity, digital video post-process is an important step of the digital television industry chain. These years the domestic market is monopolized by some foreign companies, such as Trident and Pixelworks, so it is crucial to design the video post-process chip with our own property right to develop native industry.From Mar.2003 to Oct.2003, I had been an intern in the National Chip Technology Company. As a core developer in the Post-process Chip Project, I took part in the whole design process of this chip. I was in charge of the algorithm designing such as format transformation and image enhancement.This dissertation focuses on the core algorithms' realizations such as video format translation and video enhancement of the IC. The main contributions of this paper are discussing some constructive ideas of the scaling and noise reduction algorithms.The author first introduces video signal source formats and the necessity of video scalar. After reviewing many classical image interpolation methods the paper proposes a image interpolating algorithm based on edge and get a high image quality. At the dissertation's second half, the author first introduces some noise modules, then overviews the classical noise reduction methods and analyzed their advantages and disadvantages. At last, the dissertation proposed a new 3-D recursive noise reduction method to improve the signal-to-noise ratio after noise suppression.At last, this dissertation points out some future work. As we known, video quality always is the competition focus, so what we need do is to achieve a high quality image as much as possible after completing the video format translation function. According this, this part introduces the some algorithms such as chroma noise reduction, cross color suppression, skin-color correction, and blue/green improvement.
