There are many means for combining Object-Oriented technology and DataBase technology, but Object-Oriented DataBase(OODB) is one of the most revolutionary and promising technology in current research. OODB is a new research field of DataBase system and theories related with it are not integrated. However, OODB has been applied into some fields and obtained good results. Therefore, OODB will become major technology of DataBase system. Firstly, this paper introduces Memory Management and File Management of Microsoft Windows and then demonstrates the feasibility and conveniency of developing OODB based on Microsoft Windows. Owing to virtual Memory Management of Windows, a lot of low level work can be omitted so as to reduce the difficulty of developing OODB. On the other hand, File Management based on NTFS ensured the reliability and security of developing OODB. Secondly, an idea of saving data is proposed as follows: saving data relies on Memory Management and File Management of Windows, a DataBase corresponds to a system path; an Object corresponds to a File; an Instance corresponds to a Record of File. Finally, a OODB system is implemented and tested by a special example. Result shows the advantages of OODB based on Windows. For example, it is independent of OS; it demands little system resource; it is not restricted by Memory capacity; it has high security ; it permits a DataBase containing other DataBases and a Object containing other Objects so as to save non-linear data structure.
