The pyroelectric infrared focal plane array (IRFPA) is one of the main stream of the uncooled thermal imaging technology. Compared with the single element detector, the primary defect of IRFPA is the non_umformiry, and the non_uniformity limits the performance of the IRFPA greatly. The feasible and real-time non_uniformity correction (NUC) is a key technique to the IRFPA. This paper aims at the analysis and research of the NUC on the pyroelectric IRFPA.The present developing situation of IRFPA is summarized in this paper. The reason to the non_uniformity and the characteristic of non_uniformity are analyzed. Some algorithm of NUC are discussed and their each characteristic is given in this paper. On the basis of analyzing the characteristic of pyroelectric IRFPA images, a special computer program is written to analyse and process the pyroelectric IRFPA image. By studying the principle of the pyroelectric IRFPA, a mathematic modal is established ,and a algorithm which combines the alternate fields difference with the gain coefficient correction is presented. On the basis of above work , the hardware circuit is designed to correct the non_uniformity of the pyroelectric FPA.
