The pyroelectric staring array is one of the main streams of uncolded thermal imaging technology. Modulation transfer function (MTF) is the important technical method of analyzing and evaluating imaging systems performance. This paper aims at the subject of measurement of the MTF of pyroelectric staring array.The present domestic and aboard situation of uncolded thermal imaging is summarized in this paper. The performance and characteristics of pyroelectric staring array are analyzed. The theories and methods of the Measurement of MTF are discussed, when this methods apply to space sampling detectors such as the pyroelectric staring array, the aliasing and non-isoplotation must be considered. The current methods of measurement of MTF of pyroelectric staring array are analyzed. Then the skewed knife method is deeply discussed. On the basis of above work, using the skewed knife method, a set of hardware and software to measure the MTF of pyroelectric staring array is designed.In a word, the paper discusses the measurement of MTF of pyroelectric staring array. The theories and methods of measure the MTF of pyroelectric staring array are developed and have been used in the measurement system. The results are satisfied.
