On the condition of Market Economy, newspaper competition has been the basic environment of newspaper operation . Especially metropolitan newspaper, as the "main force" of newspapers, mercerization is forming a splendid scene in newspaper competition. On this circumstance, this essay focuses on the strategy formulation and application of immature metropolitan newspaper which contributes a lot in the competition , and inquires into the medium competition environment. It also puts news competition into the economy, politics, society and culture environment, so as to describe the real picture of newspaper competition. Then this essay generally states the metropolitan newspaper's emerging and developing history , summarizes the significance and characteristics of present newspaper competition, inquires into the different competition strategies application in different markets, and solves the problems of metropolitan newspaper strategy's feasibility demonstration, formulation and operation etc.
