Geographical Information Systern(GIS) is a System of describing the current and change spatial characters of globe, on which we live with digital data, and it implement the functions of inputing/outputing, storing, displaying spatial data with its attribute data, and of spatial searching, synthesize analyzing, assistant decision-making. With the devlopment of InternetAVWW and the concept of "digital globe", the tradition GIS is developing to GIS of Network and data sharing. WebGIS is a combine System of Internet and GIS technology, and this make the GIS into the masses tools from"expert system".The main purpose of this paper is how to using Web GIS in the Tourism Information System(TIS) to realize the issue of spatial geographic information and data sharing on the Internet, to make tourist be able to access GIS data straightway via web browser, and to execute such GIS functions as query, statistics, edit and creating thematic map of geographic data and property data.The paper has a in-depth research on WebGIS technology which has been developing with a rapid progress. From knowing the domestic and international development actuality of Tourism Information System and WebGIS technology, to analyzing research procedure, supporting technology and data organization about it, we had mastered the necessary technology to develop a real WebGIS system, and through comparison, we chose a suitable system environment, function modules, architecture and network topological structure, we design and exploit the TIS in Meizhou based on the software of GIS- SuperMap IS and the languages of XML and JavaScript and ASP technology, In our system, we presented a scheme of request in "two steps", which makes that the user can manipulate a map interactively in browser/server environment, and need not to install any GIS soft in the client side. It is a solid foundation of "digital MeiZhou". For all of these research, the paper provided a technical pattern for constructing Meizhou tourism information system, and it also offered the experience in using WebGIS for regional tourism information system and other fields.
