For Dtv Media Presents The Middleware

The Information Appliance, which may be promoted by the combination of the technology of computer communication and network, has revolutionized people's life style and brings amazing changes to human life almost everyday. Digital TV (DTV), as the pioneer of Information Appliance, provides advantages which are quite unapproachable against traditional analogy television to the audience with wonderful interactivity, video and audio of high quality, diverse programs and desirable extensive functions. DTV now stands for a promise direction of television technology development.At the beginning of this article, the current state of DTV research in both national wide and abroad is summarized, along with the development process and trend in the recent years. In the following chapters, the paper introduces in detail and analyzes the layer structure of MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) specification. Along with the practice of the author, media presentation, the core part of MHP middleware, is interpreted with an emphasis. Finally, the problems occurred during the practice with undergoing platform are raised and analyzed with a preliminary assessment.The paper presents the complete process of project planning, brief design, MHP specification selection, object platform selection, middleware analysis and implementation of specified application program interface is listed. Main efforts and achievements are spread out as follows:1. Object Platform Selection, which is rather a job full of challenge. The project selected Xilleon220 by ATI and embedded Linux, and QT embedded graphics library as a plus.2. Research on and analysis of middleware model of MH1. The main functional modules of model are listed and interpreted on their function, interfaces, internal mechanism and flow. Main introduction come from the JMF (Java Media Framework), on both total function and interfaces with internal and external modules.3. Implementation of Media Presentation Middleware, which appears as a combination of Java package and Linux dynamic linking library. Native APIs are invocated with JNI method based on JMF framework, which form the foundation of Media Presentation middleware. Then, the comparison of playing effects is made enventually.
