With the improvement of network technology, especially the Internet, Virtual Instrument has become network-oriented. And "The network is the instrument" is a good description of this trend. The goal of this paper is to build a network-based virtual laboratory for the school's Disciplinary Construction Project, so as to make the best use of the VXI and PXI instrumental resource to implement distance-teaching of the experiment classes. First, by analyzing the characteristic of Client/Server and Browser/Server modes, this paper decides to adopt Web as the platform of the virtual laboratory in question and introduces the corresponding technologies and software tools. Second, for the VXI-MIO-64XE-10 module the paper develops, with ComponentWorks, the server-end applications and client-end ActiveX controls of a virtual function generator and a virtual oscilloscope, and realizes communication between the server-end and the client-end by DataSocket technology. In addition, the paper develops an arbitrary waveform generator with LabVIEW and makes possible the remote control of it by remote panel. At last, the paper describes in detail how to implement the control and management of the accesses by clients with Java Servlet and JSP technologies.
