With the wide spread and application of e-manufacturing, how to acquire the field data in real time and how to integrate bottom devices with top applications become one of the focuses that manufacturers pay attention to. Traditional technology of data acquisition and information integration reduces the openness, maintability and agility of Information Monitoring System because of disagreement of its interfaces. The paper aims at pursuing a feasible method to realize standardization and agility of data acquisition and information monitoring for manufacturing.Windows DNA-M put forward by Microsoft provides an integrated platform for developing next generation manufacturing applications; OPC provides series of standard interfaces to integrate field devices, industrial control and production management software seamlessly; XML provides the same data schema to exchange enterprise information inside and outside. Basing on DNA-M and employing OPC and XML, the paper presents a new kind of information monitoring technology for manufacturing.The paper primarily studies OPC and Windows DNA-M, and develops a control OPCDA based on OPC to realize data acquisition. Following Windows DNA-M and applying OPCDA, the paper builds a distributed platform and applies it to information monitoring for a Modular Production System. Its successful application verifies that Information Monitoring System based on OPC and Windows DNA-M obtains favourable flexibility, stability and provides the foundation for standardization and agility of data acquisition and information monitoring for manufacturing system.Finally, the paper concludes what have been done and makes some suggestions on what needs further study.
