In the 21st century, along with the modern society becomes to be information-based more and more, the scope of Internet augments continuously, all kinds of network services come forth one bye one, especially advanced multimedia systems emerge in endlessly. The appearance of the network real-time service brought forward high demands of quality of service. Qua the foundation of Internet, TPC/IPv4 network protocol has succeeded much in the past; but due to the lack of consideration of QoS when it was designed, its shortage become increasingly obvious.To solve the problem, many blue prints of IP QoS have been brought forward at present, among which there are three representational theories: IntServ, DiffServ and MPLS. Each of them has some special excellent points, and also has some limitations. Based on lucubrating of these three theories, the thesis makes out a system that using multi-driven MPLS instead of intrinsic routing mechanism to solve the QoS problem in IP network.In Chapter 1, we analyze the conflict between the quality of service needed by fast-developing Internet and the architecture of traditional IP network, and then import the conception of QoS.In Chapter 2, we mainly introduce two well-found IP QoS models: the IntServ and the DiffServ, and do some transverse comparative works on their advantage and disadvantage.In Chapter 3, we introduce the theory and mechanism of MPLS protocol at first, analyze its advantage for QoS; then analyze the disadvantage of MPLS, come to a conclusion that MPLS QoS system must be combined with IP QoS system.In Chapter 4, we introduce some correlative QoS theory, such as QoS routing and traffic engineer.In Chapter 5, we expatiate a new mixed architecture of IP QoS model, which uses MPLS as its main body and uses the advanced ideas of IntServ&DiffServ as its assistant. Mainly focus on the idea in design and the architecture of the model. Then, we talk about the inside details of this new QoS model, describe the interfaces between MPLS and prelate RSVP, between MPLS and QoS routing, between MPLS and DiffServ, and so on.In the last chapter, we conclude the thesis; give out the part that needs perfect and the expectation of future.
