The mobile internet is becoming hot spot. When a mobile node is far away from home network, registration at its home agent can cause a long handoff delay that leads to significant packet drop and throughput reduction. Considering this situation, a novel mobile architecture is introduced, and accordingly the registration delay performance is improved,mobility management and route optimization have been analyzed in this paper.The main content in this dissertation includes:In chapter 1, the protocol on M-IPv4 is introduced. Firstly, three major network nodes such as HA(home agent), FA(foreign agent) and MN (mobile node) are explained. Secondly, the work process of Mobile IP is described. Thirdly, the problem of Mobile IP is analyzed. Finally, the background of research is discussed.In chapter 2, the theoretical analysis and discussions of some schemes are given. The scheme improves the performance of system including the registration delay, packet loss and throughput. Firstly, the performance of eager and lazy handoffs combined with link layer movement detection algorithms in cells have been studied. Secondly, some regional location management schemes are discussed. Thirdly, in order to gain smoothness of handoff, the scheme of packet's transmission is researched. Finally, route optimization techniques are introduced. Route optimization techniques make extensions of Mobile IP protocol to improve the network performance.In chapter 3, using OPNET, the network nodes models such as FA, HA, GFA, MN and CN are constructed. In order to realize route optimization, the corresponding module is developed.In chapter 4, network topology is constructed for simulation and analysis. Firstly, by using these network nodes models which have been constructed, some network scenarios are constituted. Secondly, by configuring some attribute of nodes, the algorithm is realized and some conclusions are got.
