Ground Multi-sensor Detection System is composed of Command Center and lots of Detection Units. Each Detection Unit, placed in the given area, integrates kinds of sensors with wireless transmitter and receiver. Command Center can decode the compressed information, display it and monitor the area on the monitoring platform by means of bi-directional communication between it and each unit. The system performance is determined by solving the problem of mass image data transmission and by selecting the appropriate communication mode. The selection of communication mode decides practicability and reliability of the system operation. The efficiency of image compression influences system effectiveness. Researching on the detection system, we discuss all kinds of communication modes that can be used and also compare their work modules and practicability. After comparison, we offer a more suited communication solution in theory. Researching on the theory of digital image processing, we mainly give an effective solution to image compression and decompression, which is based on the DSP with dedicated digital image compressing device ADV611 and other devices. It quantities and codes the video image, which reduces the redundancy of the video image and realizes the goal of mass data compressing.
