Research Of The Application Of AV Compression Technology In Multimedia Surveillance System

With the booming development of multimedia technology, the audio and video signal processing technique play a more and more important role in our daily life. Because the bandwidth of networks is very limited, the demand of low bit rate communication systems such as distant surveillance system and video meeting system is rapidly growing.This thesis presents a blue print of a multimedia distant surveillance system, which uses special ASICs to compress and decompress audio and video data. After analysising the wavelet transform, the key technique of video compression, this thesis introduces a video processing PCB board based on a TMS320C5410 DSP chip and ADV601, a special wavelet transform chip developed by Analog Devices corporation; This thesis also discusses audio compression technique and uses CT8020 to compress and decompress audio data according to the protocol of G.723.1. At last the scheme of the whole system is presented, which has some value of reference for the development of a multimedia distant surveillance system.
