The Bluetoooth wireless is designed as a short-range connectivity solution for personal, portable, and handheld electronic devices. Since May 1995 the Bluetooth SIG has steered the development of the technology through the development of an open industry specification, including both protocols and application scenarios, and a qualification program designed to assure end-user value for Bluetooth products.The Bluetooth specification, currently at version 1. 1, comprised the following tow parts. The core specification defining the radio characteristics and the communication protocols for exchanging data between devices over Bluetooth radio links. The profile specification that defines how the Bluetooth protocols are to be used to realize a number of selected applications.The system design and realization of the Bluetooth sensor application is based on Bluetooth protocol stack. The Bluetooth sensor can make the connection of industry environment wireless and entirely digital. In this item the chipset is Bluecore02 of CSR Corporation, the development kit is Bluelab, the Bluetooth module is CASIRA, and the sensor chipset is AD7416. The prototype of Bluetooth sensor contains the following system functions: 1. data collection through sensor chipset. 2. data pass and commute through the Bluetooth gateway. 3. gental Bluetooth functions such as connection with arbitrary Bluetooth devices.The application design of Bluetooth sensor contains four section: connection manager(CM) ^ framework(FW) > user interface (UI) and data collection (DC). FW define the Bluetooth sensor profile and encapsulate the behavior of the Bluetooth sensor. CM may be called by the application and provide service for upper software. UI can call FW and offer the access interface of application for user. DC is one of the part of UI, which is separated to realize the data collection function by the sensor chipset.Bluetooth is not the one and only wireless technologies,other such as: IDA, HomeRF and IEEE802.il. This item chooses Bluetooth as the cable substitution technology of sensor is based on the following third reason: 1. Bluetooth can penetrate and needn' t aim at body to send data, which IDA can' t. 2. HomeRF is not open and doesn' t suit the connection of portable device and ad hoc net. 3. IEEE802. 11 is too expensive and complex operation.The prototype of Bluetooth sensor work effectively and stably in normal environment.
