Research And Implementation Of Bluetooth PBAP Protocol

With the development of Bluetooth communications technology, Bluetooth technology is rapidly expanding in the fields of mobile phone and hands-free has become the standard service of Bluetooth mobile phone. In the course of popular Bluetooth phones, People urgently hope that the useful resources of the mobile phone -telephone directories can be easily exchanged and shared between different Bluetooth devices by a convenient way. Bluetooth-enabled car navigation equipment, as a typical application of Bluetooth technology in consumer electronics products, particularly needs the Bluetooth Phone Book Access Protocol.In April 2006, SIG issued a Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) specification. PBAP describes the process of accessing Phone Book between Bluetooth devices by natural language. PBAP provides a uniform manner and logical interface that different Bluetooth devices can share their Phone Book resources.In the research of PBAP, this thesis mainly involves four works as below:(1) PBAP analysis. Thesis focus on the Profile framework, Profile structation, the roles of device, data objects, security measures, access features, OBEX support, interoperability requirements and other aspects.(2) PBAP logic design. Based on the PBAP analysis, we design the representations of Phone Book object, virtual folders structure, Profile Functions and response.(3) PBAP implementation. Papers present the implementation of the codec layer, communications layer, conversational session and the relevant module. Finally, the portability of PBAP implementation is discussed.(4) PBAP test.By comparing protocol specification and test specification, we implemented PBAP interoperability tester. This paper gives the general architecture of PBAP interoperability tester.According to the design of this paper, an Implementation of Phone Book Access Profile has been applied to a Bluetooth car navigation product which based on the Windows CE platform. In the test of actual development process, it proves that this Implementation has a clear structure and the advantages of portability; it can meet the actual product development needs.
