| Reverse engineering has become a focus in CAD/CAM research field. It has been widely used in many fields such as reverse engineering for a mechanical product, computer vision and recovery of biological shapes from two-dimensional contours. It is important to understand the purpose of original design by virtually measure on the digital data (cloud digitized data of the real products) and to extract feature from it. Virtual measurement and processing of the digital sample has been deeply investigated in this thesis. In brief, the following are the primary contents: Several data reduction methods are realized. The emphasis is focused on the 3-D non-uniform grid method. The smoothing and fairing methods of digital samples are described in detail. The methods of extracting the basic elements from digital samples are investigated. The algorithm of extracting the section curves from the digital sample is proposed. Tow algorithms of recovering constant radius rolling ball blends are investigated. |
