As the rapid development of biochips, how to fast and precisely acquire biologic information from biochips becomes increasingly important. Nowadays, biochip scanning and data processing are implemented by scanners and computers separately. Whereas, they can be accomplished in one machine with the embedded system. With the DSP, the biochip data can be processed in high speed. This paper describes the design and implementation of a Biochip analyzing system based on the embedded microprocessor/DSP codesign. The DSP software design of this system, based on DSP/BIOS, is presented in detail.Chapter 1 provides an overview of the biochip, embedded system and DSP, and treats the significance of the research work.Chapter 2 presents the architecture of the system. The hardware structure is based on MOTOROLA MPC823e and TI TMS320C6211. The software runs over embedded LINUX and DSP/BIOS separately.Chapter 3 is an introduction to the hardware architecture of DSP TMS320C6211, software programming environment CCS and the DSP/BIOS.Chapter 4 is focused on the DSP software design of the system. The software includes scanning and sampling control, image processing and analysis, communication with MPC823e, DSP software upgrading, adjusting the gain of PMT etc.Chapter 5 contains the main research conclusion and the prospect of further research work.
