The discussion of the label "CSCW" breaks down into two aspects, based on a dualistic usage of the term. First, "CSCW" denotes a phenomenon or subject area of interest. Second, "CSCW" denotes a research field comprised of practitioners from a variety of conventionally recognized disciplines. The discussion of the label "groupware" has essentially only one aspect ?the denotation of those instrumentalities through which CSCW (the phenomenon) is realized and toward which CSCW (the field) addresses itself. This paper concerns in two important issues on groupware system:1) "Issue on the openess and integration of legacy system": with the rapid progress of Internet and the continual emergence of commercial software system, how to integrate into the new infrastructure the enterprise's mission-critical IT assets.2) "Issue on tailorablility based on composability and extensibility": Depending on factors such as task, group, duration and context, cooperative work can have many forms. These forms often change over time, even within the confines of a single project. To support such dynamic contexts, groupware services typically should be comprehensive and flexible. How to construct a system, which can meet these requirements?Discussions on the two aspects arise from the design and development of "PDMS2002"(Project Design Management System). With the summarization of practical and academic research, the author introduces CORBA and component technology into design of groupware, and successfully solved these problems. The paper is the conclusion of these work mentioned above.
