In digital product design, it is necessary that the digital product assembly system can express assembly relations, and consider key matching elements that affect assembly quality and implement them in the assembly process. At present, popular CAD software (SolidEdge, Solidworks, MDT, Pro/E etc) can't satisfy the request of digital product design. Their assembly technology can realize assembly restraints (mate, align, orient etc), but can't implement these matching elements. Assembly is the last process for manufacturing product, which has impact on the product quality and out put. Experts from the entire world have made a lot of efforts on CAD and DFA technologies. However, there was rarely papers reported that the basic assembly process of digital product and key matching elements were researched from the point of view of assembly quality. So it is very important in theory and practice that the basic assembly process of digital product and key matching elements are researched.First, the thesis analyzes the digital product design and its requirement that digital prototype can show the physical reality of the product. This is higher requirement for assembly technology. Second, a 3D data model that can include the assembly data and information is set up. Third, the paper studies the key assembly technologies that deal with product assembly model, common assembly relations and assembly restraints. Fourth, many matching elements digital assembly technology was studied for the assembly quality of the digital product. Fifth, after the elements of affecting assembly quality were talked about, the key matching element and their implement method have been discussed. Sixth, a technology validation prototype system of the digital product assembly and key matching elements is developed. Seventh, the secondary development of SolidEdge is put up and the assembly process and key matching elements .of the typical hole shaft assembly are researched .So the technology principle and implement method are validated.The research on the basic assembly process of digital product and key matching elements has important application opportunity for the development of CADassembly model in the future.
