With the development of electric power industry, the complexity of electric network and the rank of voltage have been increasing constantly. Thus, the integrated automation and unmanned operation have become the directions of further development. The system discussed in this thesis can realize one of the four 'remotes'- remote measuring. It is an important part of integrated automation in substations.The system includes two parts: one main-station and many sub-stations. The main-station communicates with the sub-stations to upload data and download parameters. It is a basic but important function for the system to realize steady, efficient and reliable communication between main-station and sub-stations.The thesis proposes the current developing status of integrated automation in substations and the tasks of the research firstly, then introduces the comprehensive design of the system, and then focuses on the design of the communication modules both in main-station and sub-station. To improve the communication efficiency between main-station and sub-stations, the thesis brings forward a solution of multithreading in main-station. Thus, the main-station can communicate with multi sub-stations at the same time and can display the states of the threads dynamically. In addition, the main-station can communicate with two modes of sub-station within one version: industry control computer system and embedded system.Finally, the thesis summarizes the project and proposes a prospect for the further developing.
