With the development of modern technology, more and more large-scale mechanical equipments are applied in enterprises' manufacture. The condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technology of these equipments, which can ensure continuous operation, has become a current focus.Based on the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technique, The project "Design of on-line condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for Cooling Tower Fan" is carried out. In this project, the following research works have been launched:1. The common faults of Cooling Tower Fan are summarized, the fault developing mechanism and vibration characteristics are analyzed qualitatively.2. The on-line condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system of Cooling Tower Fan is divided into three levels.- sampling leveK transmission level and monitoring & diagnosis level. The network structure of the transmission level can realize the real-time remote transmission.3. Some problems such as damp proof ^ heat insulation and interfere suppress are overcame in the development of hardware used in the sampling level ?The software we programmed can sample data duly and exactly ?4. Software used for the fan's on-line condition monitoring and fault diagnosis is developed, which realize the data management and graphical demonstration by combining database library technology. The working condition of the Cooling Tower Fan is monitored, analyzed and diagnosed by the time and frequency domain analysis methods offered by the software. This system has been applied to the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of a real Cooling Tower Fan system. It runs stably. The developed on-line condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system can also be applied to other fan systems.
